Adventures in Living Natural and Making Stuff Homemade

Heyo!

I'm gonna do something a little new today and do a post with some cool recipes of mine. Sound cool? I think so. :) In the past couple months I've started exploring making simple homemade products of items I use everyday instead of buying them from the store. Not only does it save me money, but I also feel better about using these products because homemade means more natural and less unneeded chemicals.

Is it just me or does that sound great? Saving money, no unneeded chemicals, and easy homemade products that are good for you. What more could you want?

About two months ago I made my first homemade product. Toothpaste. Which if you know me, its kinda weird that that was the first thing I made considering that I am very particular about teeth brushing and what I use. But I did it and now there is no going back for me. I actually used some store bought toothpaste the other day and hated every second of it. Okay. Okay. Enough rambling for now. Time for the recipe.

Its super super simple.

Coconut Oil Toothpaste

Ingredients~

6 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
5 Tablespoons Baking Soda
10 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil (Optional)

Directions~

(1) Measure Coconut Oil into glass jar. If your coconut oil is in a solid state place the glass jar in a pot of water on the stove. Put just enough water in the pot to cover the bottom of the jar, as the water heats up the coconut oil will melt down.

(2) After you measure the coconut oil into the jar and have melted it down, if needed, add the baking soda and the optional Peppermint oil and mix. You can mix in whatever way works best for you, but I would suggest leaving it in the jar to mix. Last time I made a batch I just put the lid on the jar and shook it all up until it was well combined.

(3) From here you can either leave it in the jar and scoop from the jar when you need to brush your teeth or you can transfer it to a squeezable container. I bought a small one from the travel section at  Walmart and I just keep mine in there.

I love this recipe so much. I've noticed so many differences since I started using it. My teeth actually feel clean and for the first time in years I've noticed them actually becoming whiter. I've used so many different teeth whitening products over the years and none of them were working for me, but this one is finally making a difference. Please feel free to try this out for yourself and enjoy the difference it'll make.

I have two other products I've made, but I think I'll save those for some later posts.

I am a crazy organic, natural living girl and I might not be able to afford it all the time but I'm working towards it and its so so worth it.
